NOTICE OF INTENTION TO FILL A VACANCY FOR
CITY COUNCIL MEMBER
BY APPOINTMENT
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Poway is accepting applications for appointment to the position of City Council Member, to fill the vacancy created by the election of Steve Vaus to the position of Mayor, effective December 16, 2014. The vacated term expires in November, 2016. The position is part-time, with compensation of $1061.32 per month, plus benefits.
Qualifications of Candidates:
Must be at least 18 years old, reside within the City of Poway, and be registered to vote in the City of Poway at the time the application is submitted. Applications must be filed with the City Clerk’s office by 5:00 p.m., Monday, December 29, 2014. At a Special City Council Meeting on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 5:00 p.m., each qualified candidate will be asked to make a brief oral presentation to the City Council. The applicants may then be asked to respond to questions from the Council regarding their presentation or application. The order in which the applicants will make their presentations will be determined by a random draw of the applicant’s name prior to the meeting. The City Council may make a decision at this meeting, or may direct staff to place the matter on a future agenda for action. The appointment must occur by February 13, 2015.
